Welcome to parenthood
Becoming a parent can be a myriad of joy, excitement and wonder but it can also bring overwhelm and anxiety…..
As a new parent you will be faced with a lot of new adjustments. Some you will be prepared for, others will come as a surprise. The first few weeks are all about you and your new baby finding a rhythm, getting to know each other and close connected bonding.
Learning to adjust to becoming a parent can bring some challenges. Getting accustomed to new routines and learning new skills that there is no manual for can be daunting. We are often overloaded with advice, societal expectations and the opinions of well meaning family and friends and we forget to step back and go with the flow of our own innate intuition.
A lot of new parents don’t have extended family close by who they can lean on for support or they may have partners who work away leaving them to figure things out alone. Without support new parents can feel isolated, lonely and overwhelmed.
If this is you then know that help is available and you don’t have to walk this journey alone.
What support do I offer to new parents?
Emotional support - maybe you just need someone to talk to, to feel heard, understood and acknowledged. As a parent myself with no immediate family close by I know how isolating it can feel.
Advice on child development. As a qualified Early Childhood Educator I have a solid understanding of child development, the importance of healthy attachments for the developing brain and how you can connect and bond with your baby.
Information on self care - how to keep your own cup filled while caring for a little one.
How to tap into your own maternal instincts. There is so much information, advice and opinions freely available these days that we sometimes forget we have our own strong intuition of what our babies need and how we can best care for them.
How to maintain and strengthen attachments and connection with your baby.
Support with feeding, settling and routines.
Please get in touch if you feel like I can support you on your journey.
